Kids still account for a very small number of hospitalizations, doctors note, making up roughly 1.8% of all Covid hospitalizations in the U.S. The virus just doesn’t hit children as hard as adults. They are less likely to get infected with Covid than other age groups and generally have more mild symptoms.
