Dear Mother:
Even thou I don’t know you, I love and forgive you. I am so
glad you put me up for adoption because now I have wonderful
Christian parents who love and take care of me. I know that
if you were able to keep me you could have loved me just the
same. Maybe if I don't see you on the earth I hope and pray
that I will see you in Heaven. I am glad that you did not
abort me and that you gave me a chance to live.
I will be 13 in January. I have a sister who is also adopted.
Darli was adopted from Brazil at 20 months. She will be 8 in
December. Darli is a special needs child, her right arm goes
down to her elbow and has only 11/2 fingers on it. Her left
arm stops at the shoulder and has only 1 finger on it. If you
saw her you would think she has arms. She feeds herself, draws,
colors, and mostly dresses herself. She can ride her bike, roller
skates and roller blade. Darli and I are both homeschooled and
a lady at the church we visit who is the organist gives Darli
and I piano lessons. Darli loves horses and since she is handi-
capped, she gets horseback riding lesson for fun. Darli also
gets swimming lessons for free and the class allows ribblings
to get lessons too. The pool is great, and very warm. My favorite
animal is a cat. I have a cat named Tabby and Darli has a cat
named Flower. Flower is a calico and Tabby is a tabby cat.
Now about my adoptive parents. They are wonderful people. Dad
works at Channel 13, WJZTV. Mom is a fulltime homemaker, and
teaches Darli and I. They each have love in their hearts for
us and any more children we should adopt.
Here is a poem I like very much.
Once there were two women
Who never knew each other
One you do not remember
The other you call Mother
Two different lives shaped
To make yours one
One became your guiding star
The other became your sun
The first gave you life and
The second taught you to live in it
The first gave you a need for love
And the second was there to give it
One gave you a nationality
The other gave you a name
One gave you the seed of talent
The other gave you an aim
One gave you emotions
The other calmed your fears
One saw your first sweet smile
The other dried your tears
One gave you up
It was all that she could do
The other prayed for a child
And God lead her straight to you
And now you ask me through your tears
The age old questions through the years
Heredity or environment---which are you
The product of
Neither, my darling, neither
Just two different kinds of love
---Annoymous
Sometimes I just think about you were you who I was born.
Are you tall? Who do I look like? But you know all these
questions really don't matter because I love you no matter
what!
Before I put my pencil down I have some more things to tell
and ask you. I want to answer one of your biggest questions
first you may have had when you put me up for adoption. Yes,
I was placed into a good home! Now here are some more questions
I'd like to ask you. Did you see me after I was born and if
you did what did you name me?
I want to tell you something. If you were not married to my
birth father when I was born I want to let you know that I
love you both very much! And I always will!
Mom, thank you again for letting me have a chance to live and
a chance at life! I love you very much and even though I have
adoptive parents there will always be enough room and love in
my heart for all of you!!!!

Love,
your daughter always
