诺奖只给基础科学,理化生物,读书要读到博士后,申请教职, tenure, 经费, 哪一步都不容易。诺奖好像百万美金吧?硅谷码工前些年一年的工资,还可能得等到七八十岁。必须有真爱才能走这条路。

诺奖看的不是百万美金吧?看的是荣誉和名声,有了诺奖,基本上名利皆有了,至少不愁了,将来祖坟都冒烟、名留青史了......但如果反过来,只是冲着名利或百万奖金而去博诺奖,那是几乎拿不到或很难拿到的.....

我说的是“热爱学术”,不是追求诺奖。诺奖的获得诚如网友所言集“天赋,努力,运气”与一身的奇才。普通的热爱学术的学生可以争取上面那些学校,多一些机会在学术上有所成就。

学校不重要,专业重要。即使是大藤那些专业的PhD,绝大多数也只能做炮灰,那样其实就辜负自己的天赋了。当然如果是真爱, get paid for doing what you enjoy,哪怕只一点工资都是赚的。

如果单论对人类的贡献,父母确实应该这样推,但是走学术之路,不仅仅有独木桥的风险,还要能忍受枯燥和寂寞甚至清贫,付出和回报的失衡。如果自私一点,从父母的角度来说,子女能快乐轻松的活一辈子是首先要考虑的

学术研究不是每个孩子都有那个水平的,做学术的人也不都是热爱,大多数人把它当做一份职业。如果论真爱,是有,但这比例估计要万里挑一了吧。
